Fake Coins? FTW!!!!

I know this is old news, but really it only happens in the Philippines. Fake 10 , 5 and 1 peso coins are still in circulation.

I commute everyday and everytime I receive my change I get at least a piece of fake coin. haay, from now on, I won't accept fake coins and if I get hold of one I'd just keep it and when it reach a certain amount, I'll surrender it to a qualified bank.

It's time that we do something about it.

how to determine fake coins...

According to authorities, fake coins are rough in texture whereas genuine coins are smooth, and the 1, 5 and 10 peso coins are composed of copper, nickel, aluminum and zinc while their fake counterparts are made of steel so they stick to magnets. So carrying a little piece of magnet around can help you check the coins that you have.

Update on Travis Barker Plane Accident 09/24/08

Despite several surgeries for burns over his torso and lower body, former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker is trying to stay positive after a South Carolina plane crash that killed four, including two close friends, a spokesman for the star's clothing company said Tuesday.

"If you make it out of a crash of that magnitude, somebody's looking out for you," said Bill Nosal, Barker's friend and spokesman for Famous Stars and Straps, a Los Angeles-based clothing and accessory line created by the musician. "He's trying to stay upbeat."

Barker and celebrity disc jockey DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, survived the Friday night Learjet crash at the main airport in Columbia, S.C., with second- and third-degree burns. One of their doctors at a Georgia burn hospital said he expects them to fully recover.

Pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., and co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, Calif., died of smoke inhalation and burns within minutes of the crash into an embankment about a quarter-mile from the end of the airport's runway. A South Carolina coroner has said Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, Calif.; and Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles, close friends of the musicians, died on impact.

Baker was an assistant to Barker and "was like extended family," Nosal said. Still was working as a security guard for the musician, who Nosal said didn't always travel with one. They were on a weekend trip to perform for about 10,000 people in a neighborhood near the University of South Carolina.

Barker, 32, was one of the more colorful members of the multiplatinum-selling punk rock band Blink-182, whose biggest album was 1999's CD "Enema of the State" and sold more than 5 million copies in the United States alone. After Blink-182 disbanded in 2005, Barker went on to form the rock band ( 44) — pronounced "plus forty-four."

Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board have not said what caused the crash but did say a cockpit voice recorder revealed that crew members thought a tire blew and tried to abort the takeoff but couldn't stop the plane. The Learjet shot off the end of the runway, ripped through a fence and crossed a highway before coming to rest, engulfed in flames.

NTSB member Debbie Hersman has said pieces of tire were recovered from the runway. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., which made the tires, has said it is cooperating with the investigation.

On Tuesday, National Transportation Safety Board spokesman Peter Knudson said investigators were collecting evidence from the road crossed before the plane slammed into an embankment. Investigators expected to return to Washington on Thursday.

The jet, which was headed for Van Nuys, Calif., is owned by Global Exec Aviation and was certified to operate last year. Officials for the California-based charter company have said they are cooperating with investigators.

For all Travis Barker Fans out there, Let's just hope that after his recovery he can still make great music. Get well soon Travis!

Top 5 Pinoy Internet Superstars

People are in the Internet because they are famous. But to some people, they became famous because of the internet. Here is my quick list of Pinoy Internet Superstars, who earn audiences/followings not only in the Philippines but also in other parts of the world.

5. Inmates of the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, Cebu, Philippines

18,084,608 views on youtube and still counting. These inmates, the scums of society(excuse me for the term), amazed the world with their dancing. Not because they are better dancers than Michael Jackson but their wanting for change and reformation. Their warden must win some kind of award for talking these robbers, rapists, killers etc into doing the "zombie thriller dance".

4. MoyMoyPalaboy

Moymoy and Roadfill are brothers who won the heart of Filipinos with their Lipsynching powers. They were discovered by Bubble Gang in Youtube and everything else is history. This is one of my favorite MoymoyPalaboy video ;

3. Charice Pempengco

Yep, the runner up to Makisig Morales in a Child singing contest is already an international singing sensation. She's been guesting in several big US shows like Oprah and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Her last gig was with Celine Dion. Guess she's bigger in the US than here in our country.

2. Arnel Pineda

From a club band singer to Frontman of "The Journey". What can I say? "He's a SUUUUPEEERRRR LUCKY GUY". I should have placed him in number 3 though, but my stepdad's acquaintance with Arnel and the AMO band in his Olongapo days compelled me to consider him for Number 2. This is my favorite Journey song performed with Arnel.

Save the best for last My number 1 pick

1. HAPPY SLIP

Christine Gambito is LOVE!!! NUff said!! hahaha...

That's it. My top 5 Pinoy Internet Superstars.

Top 10 break up songs (LOL)

Aside from wallowing in self-pity or anger, you swim in alcohol or burn cigarettes to recover from a heartbreak, at least temporarily. You do everything to forget the pain of having to let go of your partner after what seemed to be a thousand years of being together. Breaking up is more agonizing than what the self-help books have warned you about.

The most difficult part of breaking up with a loved one is learning to adjust and start all over again. You try to put yourself back together and learn to accept that things like this happen. While you may not want to be reminded about it, here are ten musicians who empathize with you through their songs.

10. Ex-Factor by Lauryn Hill

No matter how much you love your guy, he seems to make everything hard for you two. You know that no one loves your guy more than you do; however, in the end, you have to leave him. You have to face the fact that the relationship is not just working anymore.

In this situation, go to the shore and allow your feet to bury into the sand while listening to Lauryn Hill’s song, “Ex-Factor.”

9. Ex-Girlfriend by No Doubt

You hate it that you’re now just one of the many ex-girlfriends on your ex-boyfriend’s list. You sensed it when you were still together. Then again, you felt that his love was real and you were sure about your feelings, too.

There were more good things than bad things in your relationship. For some reason, your friends don’t like your guy because they think he doesn’t deserve you. You are a typically stubborn girl so you pursued the relationship even though your instincts told you otherwise.

Today, your most dreaded fear became a reality; you are now another name on his long list of ex-girlfriends. You can now call yourself The Ex-Girlfriend while singing to the beat of No Doubt’s song of the same title.

8. Goodbye by Save Ferris

Did you swear to the sun and the stars that you never want to see your ex-boyfriend again? If your answer is yes, then the song “Goodbye” by Save Ferris is the perfect soundtrack for your heartbreaking experience.

This ska band fronted by Monique Powell released this song from the album It Means Everything in 1997. It generalizes a man’s megalomaniac tendencies. On the album, men are deemed as humans who plan and dream of becoming millionaires without giving consideration to love or life. This song is for people who do not have plans of taking their ex-girlfriends or ex-boyfriends back ever again.

7. Song for the Dumped by Ben Folds Five

So how are you and your ex-girlfriend doing?

Did you just say you want to get your money and your black T-shirt back? You can do two things: take back your ex-girlfriend from hell who took away your money and things the minute you brok up with her, or listen to Ben Fold Five’s “Song for the Dumped”and get on with your life.

6. I Can’t Do That Anymore by Faith Hill

Did you cut your hair and lose weight according to your partner’s wishes? Did you cook food and do the laundry for your partner? Did you quit your job? Did you do the things you shouldn’t do for a relationship because you thought your partner was the One?

Do you know Faith Hill and her song “I Can’t Do That Anymore” from the album It Matters to Me? Listen to this painful break up song to convince you to stop decorating your partner’s place, maintaining the balance of the checkbook or treating your guy like a king when he just doesn’t deserve it.

5. I Never Loved You Anyway by The Corrs

You broke up with your boyfriend yesterday because you saw him with another girl. Suddenly, you realize how patient you were tolerating his boring stories for such a long time. After realizing that your guy isn’t worth it, you let out a big sigh of relief and say, “I never really loved you, anyway.”

The Corrs’ I Never Loved You Anyway is a perfect break-up song for girls who never really loved their boyfriends. You can sing this song over and over again. This song is definitely for you if you are bitter even if you won’t admit it.

4. Against All Odds by Phil Collins

Yes, it is painful to see your girlfriend leave you just like that. But will you not get up ask her to stay? Will you allow yourself to watch her walk away from your life just like that? If pain is making you too weak to hold her hand and beg her to stay, then say it in a song.

Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now) by Phil Collins is a popular break up song. It is about asking a former lover for one more chance to come back, with high hopes of starting anew. If the places you go to remind you of her and all the things left unsaid, Against All Odds is definitely the break up song you will relate to.

3. I Keep Forgetting by Lee Ann Womack

Imagine this scene: you go alone to a coffee shop on a Tuesday afternoon and take a seat at the corner beside a big flower pot. Suddenly, a tear flows down your cheeks. You remember that the chair in front of you used to be occupied every Tuesday afternoon by a significant person in your life.

You go to a different place and the same thing comes to your mind. You haven’t moved on from the break-up yet. You can’t go to a new place because he was the one who introduced you to the city. Your life depended on him for years. Your life together seemed so permanent that you never imagined your relationship would come to an end.

You keep forgetting that you don’t love him anymore. Wake up to reality to the tune of I Keep Forgetting, a break up country song by Lee Ann Womack. It is a painful piece about a woman who wants to be reminded that she no longer needs the guy.

2. 1000 Times Goodbye by Megadeth

What more creative way is there to express the pain of being heartbroken but through a song?

After almost 20 years, the thrash metal band released an album in 2001 called The World Needs a Hero. On this album, vocalist David Scott Mustaine sang the break up song entitled “1000 Times Goodbye.”

In this song, Mustaine wrote about not being able to recognize the face of an ex-girlfriend. This song is perfect for people who think that their past relationship should go straight to a garbage bin. Mustaine also said that he will never take the ex back.

Just as the song is about to end, the singer belts out the most painful hopes of wanting to win the ex back again. Don’t we all just love his guts? At the last part of the song, the persona in the song promises to give the girl a call once her relationship with the new guy doesn’t work. The begging and the pleading is screamed in a perfectly thrash-metal way by Mustaine.

1. You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette

There is no better way to express pain and bitterness than with Alanis Morissette’s song. This Canadian singer-songwriter doesn’t just produce records, play musical instruments or act in the movies. She also represents the women who find could murdering ex-boyfriends easy, especially if it was legal.

In this song, she first says that she is happy for his ex and his new-found lover. After two lines, she tries to make her sarcasm subtle until it reaches the chorus where she acts like every man’s ghost. She says in the song that she doesn’t deserve the cross she is carrying and insults her guy’s relationship like it’s the only thing left in the world to insult.

With the painfully brilliant lyrics of You Oughta Know, Alanis has composed the piece that unleashes the pent up emotions that can drive women to insanity. In this song, Alanis helps you realize that the break up was an intolerable monumental loss. While it is a bitter and mean break up song, the album topped the charts.

Get busy listening to good music until you get too busy to be miserable. Who knows, tomorrow, as you see your ex, it’s could be just another case of Last Song Syndrome and nothing more.

Welcome to the World

Congratulations to my cousin Diane and to Kuya Jun, Who in My Opinion, is the happiest person right at this moment, for having their new baby!

I was watching them chat over the internet earlier and it was very heartwarming seeing a growing family. Webcam focused on the new baby, Ate Diane explaining how she feeds him and the proud DADDY endlessly smiling. WOW. I just imagine how I would feel if ... nah nevermind, that won't happen anytime soon. LOL. But really I'm only an uncle to the kid but the joy of just being around him is incomparable.

Welcome to the world, Mario Gonzales Reyes III. Welcome to Our family. We love you.

A Boy That Encountered God

11:10 AM by Irvin Ryan · 4 comments
Labels: , , , ,

Somewhere in Milaor, Camarines Sur, there lived a fourth grader boy
who
would follow this route to school everyday: He has to cross the
rugged
plains and cross the dangerous highway where vehicles are recklessly
driving to and from.

Once past this highway, the boy would take a short cut, passing by
the
Church every morning just to say Hi to God, and faithfully say
his, “Magandang umaga po” in Bicol dialect. He was faithfully being
watched by a Priest who was happy to find innocence so uplifting in
the
morning,

“Kamusta, Andoy? Papasok ka na?”

“Opo padre … “he would flash his innocent grin, the priest would be
touched. He was so concerned that one day he talked to Andoy.

“From school…”, he advised “Do not cross the highway, you can
pass through the Church and I can accompany you to the other side of
the
road…that way I can see that you are home safe….”

“Thank you father … ”

“Why don’t you go home … why do you stay in
this church right after school?”

“I just want to say ‘Hi’ to my friend, God,” and the priest
would leave the boy to spend time beside the altar,
talking to himself, but the priest was hiding behind the altar to
listen
to what this boy has to say to his heavenly FATHER.

“You know my math exam was pretty bad today, but I did not cheat
although
my seatmate is bullying me for notes… I ate one cracker and drank
my
water, Itay had a bad season and all I can eat is this cracker.

Thank you for this! I saw a poor kitten who was hungry and I know
how he
feels so I gave my last cracker to him … funny but I am not that
hungry.
Look, this is my last pair of slippers …I may have to walk
barefoot next
week, you see this is about to be broken… but it is okay….at
least I am
still going to school…. Some say we will have a hard season this
month,
some of my classmates have already stopped going to school ….
please help
them get to school again, please God?

…Oh, you know, Inay hit me again, it is painful, but I know this
pain
will pass away, at least I still have a mother…. God, you want to
see my
bruises? I know you can heal them…. Here… here and ….
oh …blood
…I guess you knew about this one huh? Please don’t be mad at Inay,
she
is
just tired and she worries for the food in our table and my
schooling that
is why she hits us….Oh, I think I am in love … there’s this
pretty girl
in my class, her
name is Anita … do you think she will like me? Anyway, at least I
know
you will always like me, I don’t have to be anybody just to please
you, you
are
my very best friend! Hey your birthday is two days from now!!!
Aren’t you
excited? I am! Wait till you see, I have a gift for you ….. but it
is a
surprise! I hope you will like it! Oooops, I have to go …” then he
stood
up and calls out, “Padre, padre, I am finished talking to my
friend ….
youcan accompany me to the other side of the road now”

This routine happens everyday. Andoy never fails. Father Agaton
shares this
every Sunday to the people in his church because he has not seen a
very
pure faith and trust in God, a very positive look at negative
situations.

One Christmas day, Father Agaton was sick so he could not make it in
the
Church, he was sent to the hospital. The Church was left to 4
manangs who
would chant the rosary in 1000 miles per hour, would not smile and
would
always find fault in what you do, they were also very well versed in
cursing
if you irritate them! They were kneeling, saying their kilometric
rosary
when Andoy, coming from his Christmas party, playfully dashed in.

“Hello God! I ……”

“P—-!! (a curse) bata ka!! Alam mo nang may nagdadasal!! Alis!!”

Poor Andoy was so terrified, “Where’s Father Agaton? He is supposed
to
help me cross the street … and to be able to cross the street I
will
have
to pass by the back door of this church …not only that, I have to
greet
Jesus. It is His birthday, I have a gift right here….
” Just as he was about to get the gift out of his shirt, the manang
pulled
his shirt and threw him out of the church. “Susmaryosep!!! (does the
sign
of the cross fervently) Alis kang bata ka, kung hindi matatamaan
ka!!!

So the boy had no choice but to cross the dangerous side of the road
in
front of the church. He crossed. A fast moving bus came in.

There was a blind curve. The boy was protecting his gift inside his
shirt,
so he was not looking. There was so little time. Andoy died on the
spot. A
lot of people crowded the poor boy, the body of a lifeless young
boy …

Suddenly, out of nowhere a tall man in a pure white shirt and pants,
a
face so mild and gentle, but with eyes full of tears… He came and
carried
the boy in His arms. He was crying. Curious bystanders nudged the
man in
white, and asked,

“Excuse me sir, are you related to this child?

Do you know this child?”

The man in white, His face mourning and in agony, looked up and
answered,

“He was my best friend …. ” was all he said. He took the badly
wrapped gift in the bloody chest of the lifeless boy, and placed it
near
His heart.

He stood up and carried the boy away and they both disappeared in
sight.

The crowd was curious …

On Christmas Eve, Father Agaton learned of the shocking news. He
visited
the house, and wanted to verify about the man in white. He consulted
the
parents of Andoy.

“How did you know that your son died?”

“A man in white brought him here.” sobbed the mother. “What did
he say?”
The father answered, “He did not say anything. He was mourning. We
do not
know him and yet he was very lonely about our son’s death, as if he
knew
our
son very well. But there was something peaceful and unexplainable
about him.
He
gave me my son, and then he smiled peacefully. He brushed my son’s
hair
away from his face and kissed him on his forehead, then he whispered
something…”

“What did he say?”

“He said to my boy…” the father began, “Thank you for the gift
… I will see you soon … you will be with me…” and the father
of the boy continued, “and you know for a while, it felt so

wonderful … I cried, but I do not know why….all I know is I
cried tears of joy …. I could not explain it, Father, but when
that man left, something peaceful came over me, I felt a deep sense

of love inside … I could not explain the joy in my heart, I knew
my boy is in heaven now but…tell me, Father, who is this man that
my son
talks to everyday in your church, you should know because you are
always
there … except at the time of his death ……”Father Agaton
suddenly
felt the tears welling in his eyes, with

trembling knees, he murmurred, ” … He was talking to no one …..
but .. GOD….”

Just a repost, I thought of the title.

Google's 10th anniversary, Have plans to take over the world!

When Larry Page and Sergey Brin founded Google Inc. on September 7, 1998, they had little more than their ingenuity, four computers and an investor's $100,000 bet on their belief that an Internet search engine could change the world.

Craig Silverstein, the first employee hired by Page and Brin,
lays on his beanbag chair at Google headquarters.

It sounded preposterous 10 years ago, but look now: Google draws upon a gargantuan computer network, nearly 20,000 employees and a $150 billion market value to redefine media, marketing and technology.
Perhaps Google's biggest test in the next decade will be finding a way to pursue its seemingly boundless ambitions without triggering a backlash that derails the company.
"You can't do some of the things that they are trying to do without eventually facing some challenges from the government and your rivals," said Danny Sullivan, who has followed Google since its inception and is now editor-in-chief of SearchEngineLand.
Google's expanding control over the flow of Internet traffic and advertising already is raising monopoly concerns.
The intensifying regulatory and political scrutiny on Google's expansion could present more roadblocks in the future. Even now, there's a chance U.S. antitrust regulators will challenge Google's plans to sell ads for Yahoo Inc., a fading Internet star whose recent struggles have been magnified by Google's success.
Privacy watchdogs also have sharpened their attacks on Google's retention of potentially sensitive information about the 650 million people who use its search engine and other Internet services like YouTube, Maps and Gmail. If the harping eventually inspires rules that restrict Google's data collection, it could make its search engine less relevant and its ad network less profitable.

To protect its interests, Google has hired lobbyists to bend the ears of lawmakers and ramped up its public relations staff to sway opinion as management gears up to conquer new frontiers.
"Google will keep pushing the envelope," predicted John Battelle, who wrote a book about the company and now runs Federated Media, a conduit for Internet publishers and advertisers. "It's one of the things that seems to make them happy."
Expansion plans
In the latest example of its relentless expansion, Google has just released a Web browser to make its search engine and other online services even more accessible and appealing. Not every peripheral step has gone smoothly, though; several of the company's ancillary products have flopped or never lived up to the hype.
Extending Google's ubiquity to cell phones and other mobile devices sits at the top of management's agenda for the next decade.
But the lengthy to-do list also includes: making digital copies of all the world's books; establishing electronic file cabinets for people's health records; leading the alternative energy charge away from fossil fuels; selling computer programs to businesses over the Internet; and tweaking its search engine so it can better understand requests stated in plain language, just like a human would.
"There are people who think we are plenty full of ourselves right now, but from inside at least, it doesn't look that way," said Craig Silverstein, Google's technology director and the first employee hired by Page and Brin. "I think what keeps us humble is realizing how much further we have to go."
Page and Brin, both 35 now and worth nearly $19 billion apiece, declined to be interviewed for this story. But they have never left any doubt they view Google as a force for good -- a philosophy punctuated by their corporate motto: "Don't Be Evil."
"If we had a light saber, we would be Luke (Skywalker)," Silverstein said.
A "Star Wars" analogy can just as easily be used to depict Google as an imposing empire. It holds commanding leads in both the Internet search and advertising markets. The company processes nearly two-thirds of the world's online search requests, according to the research firm comScore Inc., and sells about three-fourths of the ads tied to search requests, according to another firm, eMarketer Inc.
The dominance has enabled Google to rake in $48 billion from Internet ads since 2001. Google hasn't hoarded all of that money: the company has paid $15 billion in commissions to the Web sites that run its ads during the same period, helping to support major online destinations like AOL, Ask.com and MySpace as well as an array of bloggers.
"Google is the oxygen in this ecosystem," Battelle said.
The company hopes to inhale even more Internet advertising from the biggest deal in its short history -- a $3.2 billion acquisition of online marketing service DoubleClick Inc. that was completed six months ago.
Google also is trying to mine more money from its second-largest acquisition, YouTube, the Internet's leading video channel. YouTube is expected to generate about $200 million in revenue this year, an amount that analysts believe barely scratches the video site's moneymaking potential.
Eventually, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt wants the entire company to generate $100 billion in annual revenue, which would make it roughly as big as the two largest information-technology companies -- Hewlett-Packard Co. and IBM Corp. -- each are now. This year, Google will surpass the $20 billion threshold for the first time.
Schmidt, 53, who became Google's CEO in 2001, seems determined to stick around to reach his goal. He, Brin and Page have made an informal pact to remain the company's brain trust through 2024, at least.
But some rivals are determined to thwart Google. TV and movie conglomerate Viacom Inc. is suing Google for $1 billion for alleged copyright infringement at YouTube, while Microsoft signaled how desperately it wants to topple Google by offering to buy Yahoo for $47.5 billion this year.
Microsoft withdrew the takeover bid in a dispute over Yahoo's value, but some analysts still think those two companies may get together if they fall farther behind Google.

Got Bored With RPG; Spent Hours Playing Poker

I'm a self professed gaming addict/hardcore gamer. I'm one of those people who can sit infront the computer clicking the mouse endlessly for hours watching my characters hack and slash, duck and shoot, zoom and drift. Well I had an off day yesterday, I suddenly felt bored PVPing, grinding, FPshooting and racing. I looked for a flash game for a change, I found Governor of Poker.
I traded my MMORPGs for a flash game, and I got to admit not so many things/people can do that (even my mom, shhh). I got my premium version now. It's nothing fancy. Just a Poker game.

List Of Fictional Filipinos in Media

List of Fictional Filipinos in media like Video games,TV series, comics and movies...

Talim
(Soul Calibur II, III)

n the Village of the Wind Deity (Nayong Anito ng Hangin), there lived a tribe of people who could control the winds. Talim was the granddaughter of this village's elder, Kalana, and daughter of its shaman, Lidi.[2] Due to turmoil caused by the influences of Spanish and Portuguese culture, she was reared to be its last priestess (Babaylan).

Talim could mean 'sharp', 'blade' or 'the tip' of something sharp in Tagalog.

Jose Astrada (Front Mission 3)

Age: 35
Nationality: OCU Philippines
Occupation: OCU Philippines Navy Sniper
Starting Wanzer: Pare Paw 1
Specialities: Rifle

Possibly the character with the most unfortunate background, Jose quit obeying orders after mistakenly killing his wife during a mission and was convicted for insubordination. Swearing never to take up arms again, he was forced to pilot a Wanzer one last time during the attack on OCU Taal Base (built on the site of the real-life Taal Volcano). Jose can be recruited in Emma's story if the player chooses the option of climbing the mountain. He will join the unit after the escape from Taal Base. However, he will be an enemy character if the player chooses to go inside the mountain.

Pham Luis (Front Mission 3)

Age: 17
Nationality: OCU Philippines (she lives in the PLF occupied zone)
Occupation: Anti-government guerilla
Starting Wanzer: Zeros
Specialities: Melee

A spoiled, but kind of likeable daughter of one of the richest families of the Philippines, Pham joined to the PLF (Philippines Liberation Front), an organization sworn to separate the country from the OCU. Although her character is undesirable at the beginning, she gradually becomes more serious and responsible and decides to go with Kazuki's team after the incident at Taal Base ends.

Grail (WildStorm)

Real Name: Salvador Joel Alonday
Known Aliases: Grail
First Appearance: WildC.A.T.S. #2 Vol 1
Group Affiliation: Wetworks, Team 7
Abilities: Linked to Symbiote (Enhanced Strength, Enhanced Agility, Invulnerability), Generate Chi-Powered Rods, Disintegrate Organic Matter.

Joel Alonday joined the Philippine's Army Scout Rangers as soon as he became old enough to be eligible, quickly being promoted to the rank of Major. During a joint U.S./Philippines drug bust operation he met Colonel Jackson Dane, who was so impressed by Joel's performance that Grail became one of his first choices for membership in the new Team-7.

Juan Rico (starship troopers)

Juan "Johnny" Rico is a fictional character from Robert A. Heinlein's book Starship Troopers. He was the son of a wealthy Filipino family who joined the Terran Mobile Infantry almost on impulse and over his parents' objections. He was sent to boot camp "Arthur Currie" with 2008 other recruits, and graduated as one of the 187 still enlisted. He was assigned as a Private to Company K, Third Regiment, First M.I. Division, or "Willie's Wildcats" on the transport corvette the Valley Forge.

Kato (The Green Hornet)

Kato was a skilled driver, mechanic and fighter in all versions of the story, with the creations of both the special automobile, the Black Beauty, and the Hornet's trademark sleeping gas and the gun that delivered it attributed to him. In the television series he also became an expert in martial arts.

A long standing urban legend maintained that the switch from one to the other occurred immediately after the 1941 bombing of Pearl Harbor, but this is simply not so. In recent years, there has been a growing but equally erroneous belief that Kato was initially said to be a Filipino of Japanese ancestry. The fact is that he was first said to be Japanese, then by 1940 nothing more specific than "Oriental," and eventually Filipino.

Hikaru Sulu (Star Trek)

The fictional character Hikaru Sulu was born in San Francisco, half Japanese and half Filipino. He was shown as the USS Enterprise's staff physicist.

Sulu's last name was taken from the Sulu Sea, as Roddenberry envisioned Sulu to be representative of all of Asia.

The name "Sulu" is not only not a Japanese name but also impossible to render identically in Japanese (the katakana for the name comes out as "Suuruu", and even as "Suru" kanji for use as a person's name are impossible). This is a moot point, however, as in English the character is half Filipino and so his surname can be thought to have come from that side of his family.

Bishop

Abilities:
Energy absorption and projection
Superhuman physical attributes
Ability to instinctively know present location
Skilled marksman and hand-to-hand fighter

Bishop (Lucas Bishop), is a fictional character, a Marvel Comics superhero who is a member of the X-Men. Created by writer John Byrne, artist Whilce Portacio and artist/co-plotter Jim Lee.

“It is undeniable that when it was revealed to Filipinos in the Philippines that Whilce Portacio, who was then just coming off X-Factor and has just created Bishop for the X-Men, was in fact Filipino, it served as a kind of trigger that inspired many others to follow in his footsteps."

He was born in Tondo, an impoverished district of Manila.

Find Your Cyber Game Niche

12:46 PM by Irvin Ryan · 0 comments

After a stressful day at work or school, online gaming can play an important role in entertainment, relaxation and education. It has revolutionised the way we view and plan our leisure time and more importantly our learning experiences.

In the past, there were few options available when it came to home entertainment and it was difficult to find something that suited everyone in the family. Now advances in information technology mean that children and adults alike can find a place in the world of online gaming, which it would seem has transcended age, language and even cultural differences.

Millions of people around the world spend their leisure hours in online entertainment, glued to their computers, totally engrossed in a virtual world of thrills and adventure but there are a lot of people that have never experienced the mind boggling excitement of these wonderfully challenging and interactive games, many who wonder what in fact all the fuss is about? If you've never played an online game then you are missing the most amazing advancement in entertainment since silent movies first made their debut and the world became a different place.

The latest online games now focus on transporting participants into their own virtual world with the aid of sophisticated 3D graphics and with a whole host of technologically advanced features, both adults and children will be entertained by hours of fun and recreation.

From sport to adventure, everything has been moulded into realistic online scenarios, giving you enough reasons to stay enthralled.

Most that have already taken the plunge into online gaming will agree, its hugely entertaining and quite possible to lose track of what's happening in the real world.

The many educational choices provide an excellent starting ground and can be used as a 'teaching aid' for the task dreaded by parents and children alike - homework.

Fun and educational, these games have the added advantage of encouraging young children to learn mouse control and keyboard skills.

There are millions of dedicated gaming sites, in fact Google search produces around 115,000,000 results but which one do you choose? Which sites should you check out and which do you stay away from?

Its easy to get caught up in the adrenaline rush and forget the importance and sometimes serious side effects of downloading software that could be potentially harmful or simply just does not deliver. It can be hard to find quality software.
