At this moment, it is already possible for anyone to look for their friends or old classmates using their email address. The video is about awareness of the disease. Haven't heard of this condition before, seems so serious. tsk tsk. Guess the treatment means big business if this costs a lot in terms of internet advertising.

I've read this story a long time ago. in Joshua Harris' book "I Kissed Dating Goodbye". It's a very powerful story. I decided to put it here and hope that everybody who can read and watch this story will feel God's forgiveness and grace that people,even those that we love, fails to give. read on, watch and be blessed...

THE ROOM

In that place between wakefulness and dreams, I found
myself in the room. There were no distinguishing features
save for the one wall covered with small index card files.
They were like the ones in libraries that list titles by author
or subject in alphabetical order.
But these files, which stretched from floor to ceiling and
seemingly endlessly in either direction, had very different
headings. As I drew near the wall of files, the first to
catch my attention was one that read "Girls I Have Liked".
I opened it and began flipping through the cards. I
quickly shut it, shocked to realize that I recognized the
names written on each one.

And then without being told, I knew exactly where I was.
This lifeless room with its small files was a crude catalog
system for my life. Here were written the actions of my
every moment, big and small, in a detail my memory
couldn't match. A sense of wonder and curiosity, coupled
with horror, stirred within me as I began randomly opening
files and exploring their content. Some brought joy and
sweet memories; others a sense of shame and regret so
intense that I would look over my shoulder to see if
anyone was watching.

A file named "Friends" was next to one marked "Friends I
Have Betrayed". The titles ranged from the mundane to
the outright weird. "Books I Have Read", "Lies I Have
Told", "Comfort I Have Given", "Jokes I Have Laughed
At". Some were almost hilarious in their exactness: "Things
I've Yelled at My Brothers." Others I couldn't laugh at:
"Things I Have Done in My Anger", "Things I Have
muttered Under My Breath at My Parents". I never
ceased to be surprised by the contents. Often there were
many more cards than I expected. Sometimes fewer than I
hoped.

I was overwhelmed by the sheer volume of the life I had
lived. Could it be possible that I had the time in my 16
years to write each of these thousands or even millions of
cards? But each card confirmed this truth.
Each was written in my own handwriting. Each signed with
my signature. When I pulled out the file marked "Songs I
Have Listened To", I realized the files grew to contain
their contents. The cards were packed tightly,
and yet after two or three yards, I hadn't found the end of
the file. I shut it, shamed, not so much by the quality of
music, but more by the vast amount of time I knew that file
represented.

When I came to a file marked "Lustful Thoughts", I felt a
chill run through my body. I pulled the file out only an inch,
not willing to test its size, and drew out a card. I
shuddered at its detailed content. I felt sick to think that
such a moment had been recorded.

An almost animal rage broke on me. One thought
dominated my mind: "No one must ever see these cards!
No one must ever see this room! I have to destroy them!"
In an insane frenzy I yanked the file out. Its size didn't
matter now. I had to empty it and burn the cards. But as I
took it at one end and began pounding it on the floor, I
could not dislodge a single card. I became desperate and
pulled out a card, only to find it as strong as steel when I
tried to tear it.

Defeated and utterly helpless, I returned the file to its slot.
Leaning my forehead against the wall, I let out a long, self-
pitying sigh. And then I saw it. The title bore "People I
Have Shared the Gospel With".

The handle was brighter than those around it, newer,
almost unused. I pulled on its handle and a small box not
more than three inches long fell into my hands. I could
count the cards it contained on one hand.

And then the tears came. I began to weep. Sobs so deep
that the hurt started in my stomach and shook through me.
I fell on my knees and cried. I cried out of shame, from
the overwhelming shame of it all. The rows of file shelves
swirled in my tear-filled eyes. No one must ever, ever
know of this room. I must lock it up and hide the key.

But then as I pushed away the tears, I saw Him. No,
please not Him. Not here. Oh, anyone but Jesus. I
watched helplessly as He began to open the files and read
the cards. I couldn't bear to watch His response. And in
the moments I could bring myself to look at His face, I
saw a sorrow deeper than my own. He seemed to
intuitively go to the worst boxes. Why did He have to read
every one?

Finally, He turned and looked at me from across the
room. He looked at me with pity in His eyes. But this was
a pity that didn't anger me. I dropped my head, covered
my face with my hands and began to cry again.

He walked over and put His arm around me. He could
have said so many things. But He didn't say a word.
He just cried with me.

Then He got up and walked back to the wall of files.
Starting at one end of the room, He took out a file and,
one by one, began to sign His name over mine on each
card. "No!" I shouted rushing to Him. All I could
find to say was "No, no," as I pulled the card from Him.
His name shouldn't be on these cards. But there it was,
written in red so rich, so dark, so alive. The name of Jesus
covered mine. It was written with His blood. He gently
took the card back. He smiled a sad smile and began
to sign the cards. I don't think I'll ever understand how He
did it so quickly, but the next instant it seemed I heard
Him close the last file and walk back to my side. He
placed His hand on my shoulder and said, "It is finished." I
stood up, and He led me out of the room. There was
no lock on its door. There were still cards to be written.

Discover the 90/10 Principle

It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations).
That is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90%
is decided by how you react.
What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to
us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down; the plane being late in
arriving, which throws our whole schedule off.

A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The
other 90% is different.
You determine the other 90%, how, by your reaction. You cannot control a red
light, but YOU can control
how you react. Let's use an example.

You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup
of chocolate onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just
happened. What happens next will be determined by how you react. You curse.
You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down
in tears.

After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing
the cup too close to the edge of the table.

A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt.
Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish
breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus. Your spouse must
leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to
school. Because you are late, you drive 110 km/h in a 80 km/h speed limit.
After a 15-minute delay and throwing Php300 & some demerit points (traffic
fine) away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building
without saying goodbye. You arrive at the office 20 minutes late, because of
how you reacted in the morning. Why did you have a bad day?

A) Did the chocolate cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?

The answer is obviously D. You had no control over what happened with the
chocolate. How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what cause your bad day.

Here is what could have and should have happened....

Chocolate splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say,
"It's ok honey, you just need to be more careful next time". Grabbing a
towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you
come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting
on the bus. She turns and waves. You and your spouse kiss before you go to
work. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your
boss comments on how good the day you are having. Notice the difference?
Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different. Why?
Because of how you REACTED. You really do not have any control over 10% of
what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction.

Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle.

If someone says something negative about you, don't be a sponge. Let the
attack roll off like water on glass. You don't have to let the negative
comment affect you. React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong
reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out
etc. How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your
temper? Pound on the steering wheel and hurt your own fingers? Do you
curse? Does your blood pressure rocket? Do you try and bump them? WHO
CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your
drive? Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it. You are told
you lost your job. Why lose sleep and get irritated? It
will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job.
The Bus is late; it is going to
mangle your schedule for the day. Why take out your frustration on the
conductor? He has no
control over what is going on. Use your time to study, get to know the
other passengers. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse. Now
you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the
results.

You will lose nothing if you try it.

The 90-10 principle is incredible and amazing.

It seems simple common sense but very few apply this principle! The result?
Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, court trials,
problems and heartaches.

They never seem to be a success in life. Bad days follow bad days. Terrible
things seem to be constantly happening. There is constant stress, lack of
joy, and broken relationships. Worry consumes time.

Anger breaks friendships and life seems dreary and is not enjoyed to the
fullest. Friends are lost.

Life is a bore and often seems cruel. Does this describe you? If so, do not
be discouraged. You can be different!

I really think this should be called the 99/1 principle(cause that's a better equation). The title sounds better though. LOL

VOIP : The good thing about Skype

While a lot of the different VoIP services out there have similar features, there's one that really stands out with the number of interesting ways that it (and its users) have found to take advantage of the technology. This service is called Skype. Skype has all of the normal features like caller id, call forwarding, voice mail and the like. But some people have found ways to make it do a lot more. For example, there are ways to make is so that a Skype account can coordinate conference calls among up to fifteen people. While that may not be particularly impressive at first glance, it's downright amazing when you learn that that the conference call includes fifteen different video feeds and allows them to collaborate on a document that's on their computers all in real time!

The fact that Skype also has a video phone feature opens up a lot of interesting possibilities. For example, if you have two Skype accounts, you can set up your home Skype account to answer automatically when you call from the second Skype account and give you a view of what's going on at your own home through the computer's web cam! If you're going to talk to someone who expects you to use the video phone options, but you want to conceal your present appearance, or that of your surroundings, it's possible to use an avatar of yourself. An avatar can be taken from any digital photo, and once it's set up it will even lip sync with what you're saying.

Skype will even let you do unsavory things like concealing your identity while talking to people and recording conversations. For instance, you can alter your voice so that other people can't recognize you. You can even take that subterfuge a step further by creating a different avatar to go with your altered voice for a video call. There are also several add ons that will allow you to record calls either automatically or manually. As well as being useful for holding customer service representatives to their word, recordings of phone conversations can be turned into podcasts to share with people on the Internet. That makes this a great feature for journalists.

There are also a number of features that you can get with Skype that give you an unfair psychological advantage over the people who you're talking to. For example, there's one add on you can install that will provide you with an analysis of the emotional state of the person you're talking to. Another add on will tell measure the tension or nervousness in the other voice and tell you whether or not the person is lying.

All of this flexibility largely comes with the fact that unlike most other major VoIP services, Skype is centered much more on an actual computer than the others. This provides the flexibility of video conferencing, as well as being able to run all of these applications described above. While all of these options may make Skype unwieldly to the casual user, it can be a huge benefit to someone who knows what he or she is doing.

I'm not promoting for Skype, but I really find it good and better than YM calls. ^_^

Beijing Olympics and USA Basketball

Of course everybody heard about Michael Phelps, How he broke the world record while swimming with a broken pair of goggles. whew! That will certainly put him into the hall of fame. But that won't be the focus of this blog. I just include Michael Phelps to show how great American athletes are. (we Filipinos are in awe, we're still to win our first gold medal and by now I think we have to wait for at least 8 years more to end that drought /sigh)

I saw the USA Men's basketball team's game against Greece last night. It was a great game and a very physical game too. At one point, I screamed and got angry when 2 players from Greece,which names I can't remember cause it actually rhymes with Rumpeltiltskin, hacked Dwayne Wade in mid-air Deron Williams was tripped and there are lots of hacking. There were lots of highlights and defensive gems too especially in the second quarter.

For me, what really makes this 2008 team different from the past Dream Teams is they're tenacity and they're great resolve to win. Sure they lack knowledge in defending International style of basketball which is evident in the first quarter but that was well compensated by they're hunger. Sacrificing they're bodies and even game time made them get the job done. Prince, Redd and Boozer are stars in their NBA teams, but last night they we're in the twelfth man line up.
For me, Gold or Not, the USA basketball team is still the best team to watch.

If you like basketball next time watch The USA dream team and focus on : Kobe's defense, Bosh's work ethic, LBJ's Air show, Wade's angry approach to the game and how the rest of the team grasp the team mentality. mix it all up and you'll get the real essence of basketball. / respect
